PITTSBURGH-
Jessica Moore and
Brianna Burgunder each scored two goals to lead the Pitt-Greensburg women's soccer team to a 5-1 victory over La Roche in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matchup on Tuesday afternoon at the Baierl Athletic Complex.
The victory is Pitt-Greensburg's second win in a row and improves its record to 5-7-2 and 3-1-1 in conference play, while La Roche falls to 7-6-1 and 4-2-1 in the AMCC.
The five goals scored by the Bobcats is a season-high and the most they have scored since a 6-5 victory over Medaille on Sept. 29 2015.
Along with the two goals, Burgunder added an assist on the afternoon and despite not scoring any goals,
Kayleen Schwegler was just as effective in generating an offensive attack, as the sophomore forward talled a career-high three assists.
Pitt-Greensburg outshot La Roche by a 19-7 margin and held a 12-3 advantage in corner kick opportunities.
Moore gave the Bobcats a 1-0 lead with a goal at the 5:01 mark of the first half, but Vanessa Ceravolo tied the game for the Redhawks just over six minutes later in the 12
th minute.
The Bobcats responded with four-straight goals as Burgunder scored twice, and
Maggie Kelly and Moore also found the back of the net.
Pitt-Greensburg will look to make it three-straight victories Saturday, when it travels to Buffalo, N.Y. to face D'Youville at 1:00 p.m.
