Women’s Basketball Falls To Arcadia Despite 31 Point Third Quarter

YORK – Jenna Cole recorded her second career double-double with 17 points and a game-high 12 rebounds but Arcadia (2-1) shot 51.4% in the second half to defeat the Pitt-Greensburg women's basketball team (1-2) 91-70 on Saturday afternoon in the York College versus Cancer Classic.

The Knights led 46-37 at halftime as they shot 19-of-39 from the field for 48.7% but despite an impressive second half showing by Pitt-Greensburg, Maureen Fiocca sealed the victory for Arcadia totaling 26 second-half points to send the Knights to victory.

After going just 10-of-41 from the floor in the first 20 minutes, the Bobcats put on an impressive display in the second half knocking down 15-of-24 from the field for a 62.5% clip, including drilling 5-of-9 from behind the three-point line.

The Bobcats had three players score in double-figures on the afternoon led by Kelsey Oddis who had 21 points and seven rebounds, followed by Cole's 17 and Lyndy Baer who chipped in with 12 points and dished out six assists.

In the defeat, the Bobcats held a commanding 49-33 advantage on the offensive glass including a 20-11 mark in offensive rebounds, but despite the advantage Pitt-Greensburg managed just 14 second chance points, while Arcadia had 11.

Pitt-Greensburg held the lead for the first seven minutes of the opening quarter, leading by as much as eight (10-2) on a basket by Oddis, but the Knights stormed back and led 22-16 after the first quarter.

The Knights would lead for the remainder of the game, but Pitt-Greensburg came out after halftime and scored 31 points in the third period for its highest scoring quarter of the year.

Arcadia led by as much as 25 and went on to defeat Pitt-Greensburg 91-70.

The Bobcats return to the court Tuesday, when it travels to Pittsburgh for a non-conference matchup at Chatham. Tip-off on Tuesday is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
