Jenna Cole scored 17 points but the Pitt-Greensburg women's basketball team suffered a 70-57 defeat at Chatham in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday evening.
Chatham held a 33-30 lead after 20 minutes of play but outscored the Bobcats 37-27 in the second half to propel the Cougars to the 70-57 victory.
Cole was very efficient shooting the basketball, knocking down 8-of-her-10 attempts in 26 minutes of actions.
Casey Hamilton scored three points but was a beast on the glass hauling down a game-high 12 boards.
Chatham had four players in double-figures on the night led by Jesse Hinkle's 19 and Katelyn Sieg, Ashley McClain, and Nikki Ingel each added 11 points.
Pitt-Greensburg shot 42.9% from the field and knocked down 6-of-16 from behind the three-point arc, but Chatham forced 24 turnovers and converted them into 20 points off turnovers.
The first quarter featured back and forth action and with 39 seconds left, Cole drained a three to give Pitt-Greensburg a 16-15 lead, but Chatham responded with a three of its own by Ashley McClain to put the Cougars up 18-16 heading into the second quarter.
After Hinkle nailed a jumper to tie the game at 22 with just over two minutes gone in the second quarter, Chatham raced out to a 9-0 run for a 31-22 lead, but Pitt-Greensburg ended the quarter on an 8-2 advantage to cut the deficit to three (33-3) heading into halftime.
Chatham led the entire third quarter and held a 48-42 advantage heading into the final quarter.
Both teams shot the ball well in the final quarter as each side knocked down 7-of-13 for a 53.8% effort, but Chatham sealed the victory converting 8-of-10 from the free-throw line and would hold on for the 70-57 victory.
Pitt-Greensburg returns to the court Saturday hosting Geneva for its home opener at 2:00 p.m.
