Men’s Basketball Drops Road Matchup At Medaille Despite Strong Second Half Play
BUFFALO, N.Y.- The Pitt-Greensburg men's basketball team could not erase a 26-point halftime deficit as it fell 98-73 to Medaille in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matchup Saturday afternoon.
Medaille led Pitt-Greensburg 55-29 in the first half, but the Bobcats responded with a spirited second half as the Bobcats outscored Medaille 44-43 in the final 20 minutes of the afternoon.
Three players totaled double-figures on the afternoon for the Bobcats led by
Blake Shields and
Joe Mancini who each notched 13 points, while
Kyle Bondi added 11 and seven boards. Medaille had four players scored 10 or more points on the afternoon and were paced by Johnathan Belton's game-high 22 points and six assists.
Medaille was red hot in the first half connecting on 20-of-35 from the field for a 57.1% clip, which included six three-pointers as the Mavericks led 55-29 at half.
The second half was a different story as the Bobcats were 16-of-33 for 48.5% and held Medaille to just 41.7%. Pitt-Greensburg also knocked down 6-of-12 from three-point distance and held a 22-14 advantage on the glass as the Bobcats outscored Medaille 44-43 in the second half, but came up short overall falling 98-73.
The Bobcats return to action Wednesday when they take to the road to face Mt. Aloysius at 8:00 p.m.
