Three Players Post Double-Doubles To Lead Women’s Basketball Past Franciscan

GREENSBURG- Kelsey Oddis, Jenna Cole, and Sylvia Stuart each recorded a double-double to lead the Pitt-Greensburg women's basketball team to a 61-46 victory in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matchup Wednesday evening in Chambers Hall.

Cole scored a game-high 22 points and hauled in f10 rebounds, while Oddis tallied her fourth double-double of the season with 21 points and 11 boards. 10 of Oddis' 21 points came from the free-throw line where the junior knocked down 10-of-her-12 attempts, and as a team the Bobcats connected on 24-of-28 for a season-high 85.7% clip from the charity stripe. Stuart also had double-digit points and rebounds for Pitt-Greensburg, as the senior forward tallied 10 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.

Pitt-Greensburg dominated on the boards holding a 49-28 advantage and defensively, the Bobcats forced 22 Baron turnovers and converted the mistakes into 29 second chance points compared to just 14 for Franciscan.

Leading the way offensively for Franciscan was Abby Baierl who tallied 16 points on 6-of-8 from the floor. Coming into Wednesday's matchup, Raegan Stead was leading the team with 13.9 points-per-game and the Bobcats held the Baron's leading scorer scoreless.

Pitt-Greensburg led wire-to-wire in the victory and got off to a great start as it led by as much as 11 and held a 15-8 advantage heading into the second period.

Franciscan cut the deficit to seven on a three-pointer by Johanna Roach midway through the second quarter, but the Bobcats responded with a 13-4 run to take their largest lead of the first half, 33-19 on Cole's old fashioned three-point play with 1:57 remaining in the half. Oddis connected on two shots from the charity stripe and Pitt-Greensburg led 37-27 at the halftime intermission.

The Bobcats led by double-digits for much of the second half and Cole's layup with 4:30 left in regulation gave Pitt-Greensburg its largest lead of the game 57-35. Pitt-Greensburg outscored Franciscan 16-12 in the final quarter and went on for the 61-46 victory.

Pitt-Greensburg returns to the court Saturday, when it travels to Buffalo, N.Y. to face Hilbert. Saturday's tip-off against the Hawks is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
