Bri Burgunder netted two goals and added an assist as the Pitt-Greensburg women's soccer team recorded a 3-0 victory over Penn State Altoona in the regular-season finale Tuesday evening at Southmoreland High School.
With Pitt-Greensburg's win and a Pitt-Bradford tie, the Bobcats earns the #6 seed in the 2017 AMCC Tournament and will face the #3 seed Franciscan, Saturday afternoon at 2:30 pm.
The Bobcats jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead just nine minutes into the contest, as
Allie Grimm was fouled inside the 18-yard box, which resulted in a penalty kick opportunity for Pitt-Greensburg.
Burgunder confidently stepped up to take the PK and fired a shot into the lower left hand corner of the net for her 17
th goal of the season.
Pitt-Greensburg continued to attack and doubled its lead as Burgunder dribbled down the right hand side of the field and slotted a pass inside the six-yard box to Grimm, who one-timed it past a diving keeper to put the Bobcats ahead 2-0.
Leading 2-0, Pitt-Greensburg put the game away with its third goal early in the second half. Burgunder fired a shot from the left side of the box, that drilled the post and crossed the goal line.
Shannon Edwards shut the door on the Lions, stopping all seven shots that came her way to earn her sixth win of the season, as well as her fourth shutout.
