GREENSBURG- The Pitt-Greensburg women's volleyball team lost 3-0 (13-25, 26-28, 19-25) to Franciscan in the regular-season home finale Wednesday evening in Chambers Hall.
Wednesday's match was the final home match of the 2017 regular-season, and the Bobcats will wrap up the campaign Saturday afternoon at Pitt-Bradford.
Pitt-Greensburg falls to 4-20 overall and 2-6 in AMCC play while Franciscan stands at 6-15, and 5-3 in conference action.
Prior to Wednesday's match, seniors
Amanda Ross and
Erica Bosh, along with their families were recognized during the Senior Night ceremonies.
Ross led the Bobcats with seven kills in her last home match in Chambers Hall, while
Rayli Turek and
Autumn Karlheim each had four.
Karlheim led the defensive effort for Pitt-Greensburg, totaling two blocks on the evening and Bosh also assisted the defensive effort with 14 digs, followed by
Kassi Niver's nine.
Franciscan jumped out to a quick 8-2 lead in the opening set, before the Bobcats called the first timeout of the opening game. The Barons extended their lead to 16-6 and held on to take game one by a 25-13 margin.
The second set provided the most excitement of the evening, as both sides battled into extra points. Franciscan took an early 11-6 lead, before the Bobcats called timeout. The Bobcats came out of the break with momentum and trimmed the lead to 19-17, before Franciscan used a TO in hopes of breaking the momentum. Pitt-Greensburg continued to claw its way back in the game and eventually took a 22-21 advantage. Out of the timeout, the two sides continued to trade points back and forth, but the Barons were able to pull out the marathon game 28-26.
Franciscan totaled 12 kills on 28 attempts, with just one error for a sparkling .393 hitting percentage, as it sealed the match, winning 25-19 in game three.
