Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

@UPG_WBB Topped By Villa Maria In Exciting Overtime Matchup Saturday Morning

BUFFALO, N.Y.- Despite double-doubles from senior Kelsey Oddis and freshman Sabre Turner, the Pitt-Greensburg women's basketball team fell in overtime 73-68 to Villa Maria College on the final day of the Buffalo State Tip-Off Tournament.

Pitt-Greensburg trailed 49-45 at the start of the final quarter and Villa Maria would extend the lead to six (59-53) with just 2:10 left in regulation. It looked as if the Vikings would hold on for the win, but the Bobcats continued to scrap its way back with clutch shooting and a dominant effort on the boards down the stretch.

A three-pointer from Bianca Brown extended the Viking advantage to three with under a minute remaining, but the Bobcats answered with a bucket from Colleen Murphy and two free-throws from Oddis to trim the Villa Maria lead to three (62-59). Murphy's bucket was the result of an offensive rebound by Turner and great defense forced a missed layup by the Vikings, which gave the ball back to Pitt-Greensburg.

After Oddis' free-throws, the Bobcats intentionally fouled the Vikings to extend the game. Following the foul, Villa Maria called timeout, but the Bobcats managed to force a turnover with a chance to tie the game with just 10 seconds left. Oddis attempted a three that was no good, but Murphy kept the possession alive with an offensive rebound. Murphy got the ball to Turner who nailed a three, which tied the game at 62 and forced overtime.

The Bobcats continued their momentum into overtime and would hold a four-point lead 66-62, as Oddis and Turner both nailed jumpers.

Villa Maria once again answered back with two-straight baskets to tie the game at 66, but Kristen Mills gave the lead back to Pitt-Greensburg with a fastbreak layup.

The Vikings answered the Mills layup with back-to-back three-pointers to snag the lead back from the Bobcats. Villa Maria would hold off a charge from the Bobcats in the final minute of OT and go on for the 73-68 win.

Oddis and Turner both recorded double-doubles for Pitt-Greensburg as Oddis tallied a game-high 32 points and 19 rebounds, while Turner chipped in with 14 points and 11 boards.

The Bobcats did a great job of rebounding the basketball as they hauled down 58 boards compared to 53 for Villa Maria.

Pitt-Greensburg returns to action next Saturday (Nov. 25) when they travel to Beaver Falls for a matchup with Geneva College at 2 pm.
