@UPG_WBB Drops Non-Conference Matchup Versus Grove City

GREENSBURG- The Pitt-Greensburg women's basketball team (1-7) fell 85-52 to Grove City College (4-5) in a non-conference game Wednesday evening in Chambers Hall.

Kelsey Oddis paced the Bobcat offense with 15 points and added three rebounds, while freshmen Nadege Durand, Sabre Turner, and Cat Gollihugh each chipped in with eight points each.

Grove City placed all five starters in double-figures and were led by Lexi Arkwright's 17 points, while Jess Bowen notched a double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds.

Despite coming up on the short end in the win column, the Bobcats shot 40.8% from the floor, making 20-of-49 for the game, which was its second highest shooting percentage of the season.

Grove City scored the first seven points of the game over the opening two minutes of the first quarter, but the Bobcats answered with a 9-2 run and tied the game at nine with 4:45 left on a layup from Durand.

Laura Buchanan missed a layup but grabbed her own rebound and connected on a layup to put the Wolverines back in front, which it would remain in the lead for the remainder of the quarter, holding a 21-15 advantage heading into the second 10 minute quarter.

Durand's layup at the 7:31 mark cut the deficit to seven, 28-21, but Arkwright drilled a three to push the GCC lead to double-digits. Grove City would continue to lead by double-digits for the remainder of the game and go on for an 85-52 win.

Pitt-Greensburg returns to action Saturday, when it plays host to Westminster at 2 pm, then travels to Behrend Sunday, for its final conference game before the Christmas Holiday.
