Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Penn State Behrend Tops @UPG_WBB Sunday Afternoon In Erie

ERIE- Colleen Murphy grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds and Nadege Durand totaled 11 points and added six steals, but the Pitt-Greensburg women's basketball team (1-9, 1-4 AMCC) fell 66-39 to Penn State Behrend (4-6, 2-2 AMCC) in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matchup Sunday afternoon in the Junker Center.

Oddis and Durand each had 11 points and nine rebounds for the Bobcats and Maddy Coddington and Sam Ballow each dished out two assists.

The Lions jumped out to an early 4-0 lead on baskets from Autumn Byes and Emily Kinecki and extended their advantage to nine (12-3) on an old-fashioned three-point play by Erica Woll.

Pitt-Greensburg fought its way back after an early deficit and held the Lions to just two points over the final 3:41 of the opening quarter. Byes' layup put the Lions in front 16-8, but the Bobcats ended the quarter on a 10-2 run to tie the game at 18 heading to the second stanza.

The Bobcats struggled offensively in the second stanza as their shots wouldn't fall for much of the quarter. Pitt-Greensburg totaled 15 shots but managed to hit just one of its attempts, while Penn State Behrend scored 19 points on 8-of-17 from the floor.

Penn State Behrend would go on for a 66-39 victory, but despite being down on the scoreboard, the Bobcats outrebounded the Lions 28-18 in the second half, including a commanding 12-2 margin on the offensive glass.

Pitt-Greensburg welcomes Waynesburg University to Chambers Hall for its final game before the Christmas Holiday. Thursday's game is set for a 5 pm tip-off.
