Chatham Mounts Second Half Comeback To Top @UPG_WBB

GREENSBURG- The Pitt-Greensburg women's basketball team (1-11) led by as much as 16 points in the opening half, but Chatham (3-8) shot 51.4% and drilled 8-of-13 from three-point distance in the second half as the Cougars held on for an 83-73 victory Sunday afternoon in Chambers Hall.

Pitt-Greensburg led for the majority of the opening half as it put together one of its best 20 minutes of the season, shooting 51.5% for the half and knocking down 17-of-33 as well as 29-18 advantage in the rebounding department.

After shooting just 22.9% in the opening half on 8-of-35 from the field, Chatham completely turned its play completely around in the second half, hitting 18-of-35 (51.4%) and was even better from behind the three-point arc, connecting on 8-of-13.

Kelsey Oddis led the way offensively for the Bobcats pouring in a team-high 24 points and securing 11 rebounds to record her seventh double-double of the season, while teammate Nadege Durand also posted a double-double with 11 points and a game-high 13 rebounds, seven of which she hauled in on the offensive glass.

Sabre Turner put together a fantastic game for the Bobcats totaling a career-high 22 points and came up just a rebound short (9) of posting her second career double-double

Katie Sieg led the way for Chatham with 26 points and eight rebounds and was clutch from the charity stripe all afternoon long, knocking down 16-of-17, including all 10 of her attempts in the opening quarter.

Chatham led early on at 2-0 and 4-3, but that would be its only lead in the first half, as Turner's layup put the Bobcats 5-4 with 8:44 left in the opening quarter. Pitt-Greensburg pushed its lead to as much as 11 in the opening quarter and 16 in the second stanza, as it would hold a 46-32 lead at halftime.

Chatham trimmed the deficit to eight with just under five minutes left in the third on a bucket from Brittany Smith, but back-to-back layups and a jumper from Oddis pushed the Bobcats advantage back to 14 with 2:47 remaining.

The Cougars took the advantage for good as they started the fourth quarter out on a 12-0 run and would hold on for the 83-73 win.

Pitt-Greensburg returns to the court Wednesday, when it travels to Steubenville, Ohio to face Franciscan. Wednesday's tip-off is scheduled for 8 pm.
