Hart’s RBI Single Along With Dominant Start By Minnick Propel @PittGbgBaseball To 3-2 Win Over Saint Joseph’s (ME)

AUBURNDALE, Fla-Ian Hart's (Lititz, PA, Warwick)'s RBI single along with a dominating effort on the mound from Bill Minnick (West Mifflin, PA, CCAC South) led the Pitt-Greensburg baseball team to a 3-2 victory over St. Joseph's (Maine) Monday morning.

Leading 2-0 entering the eighth inning, St. Joe's scored two runs in the top of the eighth to tie the game at two. Ryan Dodson (Bethel Park, PA, Davis & Elkins) led off the bottom of the inning with a single and after Jake Bulick (Sharpsville, PA, Mercyhurst Northeast) was brought on as a pinch runner, Dylan Pounds (Houston, PA, West Liberty) put down a great sacrifice bunt to move Bulick into scoring position. Hart was the next batter for Pitt-Greensburg and the junior catcher came through with an RBI single through the right side of the infield to give the Bobcats the lead.

Holding a 3-2 lead, Austin Berger (Canonsburg, Pa, Canon-McMillan) came on to close the game out for Pitt-Greensburg. The Monks singled to lead off the inning and put down a sacrifice bunt to move the runner over to second game. Berger got Joey Murphy to pop out for the second out of the inning and sealed the win for the Bobcats with a strikeout to end the inning and record his first save.

Patrick Aul (Pittsburg, Pa, CCAC South), Chris Common (Trafford, PA, Penn-Trafford), and Dodson all had multi-hit games, while Tyler Holland (Pittsburgh, PA, Baldwin), Common, and Hart all drove in runs for Pitt-Greensburg.

Minnick was dominant on the mound for the Bobcats as he tossed 7 2/3 innings, allowing just five hits and struck out three.

Pitt-Greensburg jumped out to the lead in the first inning as Holland ripped a one-out double to right field and Common drove in the run with a double to left.
The score remained the same until the fifth when the Bobcats tacked on an additional run on an RBI by Holland, which scored Mike Spadafore (New Freedom, PA, Susquehannock).

The Monks scored two runs in the eighth to tie the game at two and Hart's RBI single sealed the win for Pitt-Greensburg.

The Bobcats return to the diamond Tuesday when they face Ohio Northern at 12:00 p.m.
