Pitt-Greensburg Baseball Falls At No. 8 Ranked Wooster

WOOSTER, Ohio- The no. 8 ranked College of Wooster scored three runs in the first inning and would never look back as it topped the Pitt-Greensburg baseball team 14-4 in a non-conference matchup Wednesday afternoon.

Pitt-Greensburg managed four runs on six hits on the day, and had a tough time generating an offensive attack against Wooster starter Brian Murray, who tossed 5.1 solid innings, allowing just three hits and struck out four. The Bobcats did however show patience against the Wooster starter drawing three walks.

Offensively, Mike Parlak led the way driving in a team-high two RBI, while Chris Common went 1-for-2 at the plate with an RBI and drew two walks.

Wooster jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first inning and would add another run in the third. The Fighting Scots put up five runs in the seventh for its best offensive inning of the afternoon, but the Bobcats would not go down quietly. Pitt-Greensburg struck out for two runs in the sixth as Tyler Holland smacked an RBI double, which drove in Mike Spadafore and Common followed with a run scoring single.

In the last at-bats of the afternoon, Parlak left his imprint on the game as he drilled a two-run homer, his second of the season, but Wooster would go on for the 14-4 win.

Pitt-Greensburg has a quick turnaround for its next game, when it plays host to Penn State Behrend Friday afternoon at 1 p.m.
