WASHINGTON, D.C.- The Pitt-Greensburg Volleyball Team wrapped up its weekend in Washington DC at the Catholic University of America Tournament topping Albright in a five-set thriller for its first win of the weekend. Sophomore
Emma Dongilli was also voted to the All-Tournament team after putting together an impressive four games.
Dongilli totaled 102 assists over the four games, which comes out to an average of just over nine assists per set, and the sophomore setter also chipped in on defense totaling 40 digs, as well as two solo blocks.Â
The Bobcats posted a 1-3 record with losses to Catholic, Salisbury, and Wesley, but pulled out a five-set marathon against Albright to earn their first win of the season.Â
Against the Lions, Pitt-Greensburg jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead, capturing the first set in a nailbiter 25-23 and went on to win the second stanza 25-19. Alrbright fought back and took the third and fourth set to force a winner-take all final set. It was the Bobcats that displayed grint and a never-quit-attitude as Pitt-Greensburg would win the fifth set 15-9 and capture the team's first victory of the season.Â
Autumn Karlheim and
Amanda Ross both put together impressive weekends as each player tied a single-game high in kills (13). Karlheim totaled 13 kills against Welsey, and Ross posted 13 against Albright.Â
Pitt-Greensburg travels to Pittsburgh for two matches Friday facing Chatham and Oberlin.Â
