Women's Soccer Tallies Five Goals In Victory At St. Vincent Tuesday Afternoon

LATROBE- Allie Grimm and Bri Burgunder each tallied two goals each as the Pitt-Greensburg women's soccer team defeated St. Vincent 5-1 Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference matchup.

Pitt-Greensburg led 1-0 at the halftime break on Burgunder's fifth goal of the season. Burgunder corralled a rebound off a block shot and fired it past a diving keeper for the lone goal of the first half. The Bobcats generated the majority of the scoring chances in the first 45 minutes, but led just 1-0 heading into the halftime break.

The second half was a much different story as the two sides combined for five goals, four of which came from the Bobcats.

Burgunder added her second strike of the match in the 54th minute, which was followed by a goal from Grimm. Camille Hickman gave a great pass to Grimm, who then buried Pitt-Greensburg's third goal of the match.

Saint Vincent added a penalty kick goal in the 86th minute, but the Bobcats answered back with two goals by Alexa Fetterman and Grimm as Pitt-Greensburg would hold on for the 5-1 win.

Pitt-Greensburg net minder Shannon Edwards played a strong game in goal as the senior tallied seven saves to earn her third victory of the season.

Fetterman led all players with a game-high seven shot attempts, while Burgunder and Grimm added multi-shot efforts in the victory.

Pitt-Greensburg returns to the pitch next Tuesday (Sept. 19) when it faces the Yellow Jackets of Waynesburg for a 6 pm tilt.
