STEUBENVILLE, Ohio- The Pitt-Greensburg women's soccer picked up a big road win with a 2-0 victory over Fransican in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Confernece matchup Tuesday afternoon.
With the win, Pitt-Greensburg moves to 6-2-1 on the season and 1-1 in conference play, while Fransican falls to 3-6 and 1-1 in the AMCC.
The Bobcats got on the board early as
Alexa Fetterman netted her fifth goal of the season, just 1:48 into the match. Fetterman corralled a rebound following a save from Sarah Luebking and fired the shot into the back of the net for the first strike of the match.
Despite holding a 9-4 advantage in shots, the Barons could not get the ball past
Shannon Edwards who stopped all six attempts that came her way.
Just like the first half, the Bobcats would strike for their second goal early in the second 45 minutes of action. Pitt-Greensburg drew a foul inside the 18-yard box, which resulted in a penalty kick opportunity just 4:51 into the second stanza.
Captain
Bri Burgunder was selected to take the PK, and the junior midfielder made the most of her opporunity scoring her 10th goal of the season.
In total, Edwards tied a season-high with nine saves and earned her second shutout of the season as Pitt-Greensburg would go on for the 2-0 win.
The Bobcats return to Ridilla Field for their next match Friday afternoon, when they play host to Pitt-Bradford at 4:15 pm.
