Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Second Half Shooting Lifts @UPGbasketball To Road Win At Pitt-Bradford Saturday Afternoon

BRADFORD- The Pitt-Greensburg men's basketball team (5-9, 3-6 AMCC) snapped a three-game losing streak Saturday afternoon as it topped Pitt-Bradford (2-13, 1-8 AMCC) 86-74 in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matchup.

The Bobcats shot a season-high 54.5% from the field, knocking down 30-of-55 and connecting on 12-of-25 from three-point distance. The opening 20 minutes saw Pitt-Greensburg shot 47% from the floor but Pitt-Greensburg scorched the nets in the second half, hitting 16-of-25 for 64% and 7-of-11 from three-point distance.

Four players totaled double-figures on the afternoon for Pitt-Greensburg, led by Joe Mancini's 23 points. Mancini hit a career-best 7-of-12 from three-point distance, which is just one off the school-record.

After missing Wednesday's game due to illness, Jay Grubb returned with 18 points on 8-of-9 from the floor and also hauled down six rebounds. Kyle Bondi and Cam Seigfreid were also in double-figures for the Bobcats with 16 and 11 points respectively.

Christian Perkins paced Pitt-Bradford with a game-high 24 points on 10-of-16 from the floor and 4-of-7 from behind the three-point arc. Dylan Mitchell (16), Dylan Niedermeyer (11) and Reginald Rogers (10) were also in double-digits for the Panthers.

Pitt-Greensburg did a fantastic job of taking care of the basketball in the victory, committing a season-low seven turnovers. Defensively, the Bobcats forced eight Pitt-Bradford turnovers, which led to 13 points, compared to just seven from the Panthers.
Although the Panthers held a 13-2 margin in offensive rebounds, Pitt-Greensburg played great defensive on the extra possessions, limiting Pitt-Bradford to just 14 second chance points.

Pitt-Bradford held the lead for much of the first half and a three-pointer from Christian Perkins pushed the lead to double-digits (30-20) with 8:46 left, but the Bobcats responded with a 15-4 run over the next seven minutes to take a one-point lead with just under two minutes left until halftime. However, the Panthers would go into the half leading 40-37 as Colby Mills drilled a three with five seconds remaining.

The Bobcats quickly snatched the lead back for good in the opening minutes of the second half as a three-ball from Seigfreid catapulted the Bobcats back in front for the remainder of the contest.

Pitt-Bradford got within two (70-68) with 6:11 remaining in regulation, but the Bobcats sealed the win with a 10-2 run over the next five minutes and would go on for an 86-74 victory.
