Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

@UPG_WBB Falls To Medaille In Overtime Thriller Saturday Afternoon

GREENSBURG- The Pitt-Greensburg women's basketball team tied a season-high with 14 steals, but Medaille College prevailed 65-62 in an exciting overtime matchup Saturday afternoon in Chambers Hall.

The two sides would need extra time to decide the winner, as the game was deadlocked at 57 at the end of regulation.

Kennedy Morgan scored the first points of the extra period as she connected on two free-throws, but Kelsey Oddis came right back for the Bobcats and scored two of her game-high 20 points to tie the game at 59.

Sabre Turner made 1-of-2 from the line to put the Bobcats ahead 60-59 with just over three minutes left in OT, but the Mavericks once again answered to go up three as Breanna Walker and Rayann Call hit two shots from the charity stripe.

Colleen Murphy kept the next possession alive for the Bobcats, hauling down an Oddis miss, and the extra possession was key as Turner nailed a layup to cut the Mavericks' lead to 63-62.

The two sides each had multiple possessions after the Turner layup, but neither team scored. Dani Reinwald hauled down a rebound and Medaille called timeout with 26 seconds remaining for a chance to extend their lead.

Call drew a foul with one second left on the shot clock and headed to the free-throw line for two attempts. Call came up clutch making both attempts to push the Maverick lead to three with six seconds remaining in OT.

Pitt-Greensburg called a 30 second timeout and advanced the ball to the forecourt. However, the Bobcats were not able to get off a shot and Medaille would prevail with a 65-62 win.

The Bobcats played smothering defense on the afternoon and forced 23 Medaille turnovers, which resulted in a 16-8 advantage in points off turnovers.

Oddis paced the Bobcats with 20 points and 14 rebounds for her 11th double-double of the season, while Nadege Durand followed suit recording her seventh double-figure points and rebounds performance, totaling 10 points and 10 rebounds.

All afternoon long, the Bobcats played locked down defense on the AMCC's second leading scorer and leading rebounder Reinwald, holding her to just 12 points - - six points off her average (18.8). Reinwald played just five minutes in the third period, as she picked up her fourth foul and headed to the bench.

Pitt-Greensburg returns to the court Wednesday evening when they play host to Mt. Aloysius at 8 pm. Aloysius currently sits in second place in the AMCC standings with a 9-1 mark in conference play.
