Third Quarter Run Propels Mt. Aloysius Past @UPG_WBB

GREENSBURG- Kelsey Oddis recorded her 12th double-double of the season scoring a game-high 18 points and 14 rebounds, but Mt. Aloysius (12-4, 10-1 AMCC) outscored the Pitt-Greensburg women's basketball team (3-16, 3-9 AMCC)  31-11 in the third quarter and went on for a 65-48 victory.

Pitt-Greensburg held a 29-26 lead at the halftime break, but Mt. Aloysius reeled off a 14-0 run over the opening four minutes of the second half to grab hold of the lead for good. The Bobcats shot 12-of-31 in the first half and held a 24-18 advantage on the offensive glass, which resulted in the three- point advantage after the first half of action.

Despite the big third quarter from Mt. Aloysius, Pitt-Greensburg came out in the fourth quarter and held the Mounties to just 3-of-15 from the field, as the two teams played to an 8-8 tie over the final 10 minutes of action.

Nadege Durand added seven points and four rebounds, but did a great job of getting her teammates involved, totaling four assists, which is her second highest total this season. Colleen Murphy put together a solid performance on the glass for the Bobcats, hauling down six rebounds, four of which came on the offensive glass, tying her season-high.

Abby Kulick paced the Mounties with 15 points on 6-of-12 from the floor, while Alexia Servello had 14 on 6-of-13 shooting. Rachel Robinson and Jessa Wright each added 10 to round out the double-digit scorers for Mt. Aloysius. Wright entered the game ranked second in the conference in three-point percentage (37.4), but the Bobcats played great defense, holding Wright to just 1-of-5 from three-point distance.

The Bobcats shot 7-of-15 in the opening quarter and held Mt. Aloysius to just 26.7 % (4-of-15) from the field, as Pitt-Greensburg led 16-12 after the opening 10 minutes.

The two teams battled back and forth in the second quarter, but it was the Bobcats that held an 18-14 advantage after an early bucket from Durand. However the Mounties connected on three quick buckets to take their first lead (20-18) on a jumper from Servella.

On the next possession, Robinson's jumper pushed the Mt. Aloysius lead to 22-18 with 5:50 left in the opening half, but the Bobcats answered with buckets from Sam Ballow and Durand to once again tie the score at 22.

With just over a minute left in the half, two free-throws by Robinson put the Mounties back in the lead, but the Bobcats reeled off a 6-2 run to end the half and headed into the locker room holding a 29-26 advantage.

The Mounties stormed out in the third quarter and scored the first 14 points to take hold of the game.

Despite being down by double-digits for much of the final 20 minutes of action, the Bobcats did not quit, as they held the Mounties to just eight points in the fourth quarter. The big third quarter advantage proved to be enough as Mt. Aloysius went on for a 65-48 victory.

The Bobcats return to action Saturday, when they travel north to Buffalo, N.Y. to face D'Youville. Saturday's tip-off against the Spartans is set for 3 pm.
