Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

@UPG_WBB's Comeback Falls Just Short In Loss To Hilbert

GREENSBURG- Kelsey Oddis scored a game-high 22 points and Nadege Durand recorded her third-straight double-double as the Pitt-Greensburg women's basketball team cut an 11-point fourth quarter deficit to a one point game late in regulation, but Hilbert managed to hang on for a 59-54 victory.

Hilbert led 48-37 with just over nine minutes left in the fourth quarter, but Pitt-Greensburg used a spirited defensive effort to cut the deficit to one, 55-54 with 1:29 remaining in regulation.

Pitt-Greensburg forced Hilbert to turn the ball over eight times in the final 10 minutes and limited the Hawks to just 4-of-14 from the field, meanwhile the Bobcats had their best quarter shooting the ball knocking down 7-of-13 for a 53.8% clip.

Despite hitting just 4-of-10 free-throws in the final minute of regulation, the Hawks managed to hang on for a 59-54 win.

Oddis paced the Bobcats with 22 points on 10-of-22 from the field and nearly eclipsed a double-double with nine rebounds, while Durand recorded her third-straight double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds and also added five steals.

Kelsi Ebert led the way offensively for Hilbert with 18 points and six steals, while Ashley Repine added 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Hilbert led 30-27 heading into the halftime break and held Pitt-Greensburg without a point for nearly the first six minutes of the third quarter, before Sam Ballow knocked down a jumper with just over four minutes left.

Ebert's layup pushed the Hawks lead to 46-35 heading into the final quarter, but the Bobcats regrouped at the quarter break and would outscore Hilbert 18-8 over the final 10 minutes to get within a point with 1:29 left. Despite the spirited defensive effort, Pitt-Greensburg would fall 59-54.

The Bobcats return to the court Wednesday, when they play host to La Roche at 8 pm.
