Women's Soccer Takes Down Medaille On Senior Day

GREENSBURG- The Pitt-Greensburg women's soccer team defeated Medaille by a score of 3-0 in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matchup Saturday afternoon at Hempfield High School.

Prior to Saturday's kick-off, senior Bri Burgunder was honored during Senior Day festivities. Pitt-Greensburg dominated the entire afternoon against Medaille. Offensively, the Bobcats tallied 15 shots and defensively did not allow a single shot by the Mavericks. Medaille managed two corner kicks in the second half, but Pitt-Greensburg did a great job of clearing the threat.

Burgunder put together a masterful game for the Bobcats, recording the first goal of the match and dishing out two assists. Burgunder gave Pitt-Greensburg a 1-0 lead in the 43rd minute with her seventh goal of the season. The Bobcats outshot Medaille 6-0 in the opening 45 minutes and went into halftime holding a 1-0 advantage.

Pitt-Greensburg added to its lead just four minutes into the second half as Allie Grimm buried her third of the season to double the Bobcat advantage to 2-0.

The Bobcats put away the Mavericks in the 65th minute when Tiffany Michalek drilled a shot into the net to send Pitt-Greensburg to the 3-0 victory.

Bobcat goalkeeper Kaity Watson tallied her second shutout of the season in the victory.

Pitt-Greensburg returns to the field Wednesday afternoon taking on La Roche at 1:00 pm.
