Women's Soccer Falls In Non-Conference Finale At Juniata Tuesday Evening

HUNTINGTON- The Pitt-Greensburg women's soccer team fell in its finale non-conference game of the season Tuesday night, losing 2-0 to Juniata. 

With the win, Juniata improves to 4-6-0, while Pitt-Greensburg falls to 6-4-1. 

Juniata outshot the Bobcats by a 13-9 margin, but after being outshot 7-3 in the opening half, Pitt-Greensburg totaled six shots over the final 45 minutes. Bri Burgunder led the way for the Bobcats tallying a game-high six shots, while Tiffany Michalek also chipped in with two attempts. Alexa Fetterman also contributed on the offensive end with a shot on goal. 

Kaitlyn Watson got the start in goal for the visitors, and made four saves for Pitt-Greensburg. 

Juniata got on the board in the 33rd minute on a strike by Caroline Braas. Pitt-Greensburg answered the goal with a scoring chance of its own as Burgunder drilled a strike towards the Eagle goal, but her shot was stopped by Kristin Racis to keep the game 1-0. 

Five minutes into the second half, the Bobcats were fouled inside the 18-yard box resulting in a penalty kick opportunity. Burgunder took the PK but her attempt was saved by Racis to keep the shutout in tact. 

Juniata added to its lead with a goal in the 68th minute. Later in the second half, the match was delayed by lightning in the 82nd minute. 

Pitt-Greensburg regrouped during the break and put together three quality scoring opportunities. In the 87th minute, Fetterman fired a shot on goal that forced a solid save by Racis. Just over a minute later, Michalek's attempt drilled the post and Burgunder corralled the rebound and fired an attempt, which was blocked as Juniata would hold on for a 2-0 win. 

The Bobcats return to the field this Saturday (Oct 6.) when it travels to Buffalo, N.Y. to face D'Youville. Saturday's match is set to begin at 2 pm.
