Women's Soccer Upended At D'Youville

BUFFALO, N.Y.- D'Youville scored a goal in each half of play to pick up a 2-0 victory over the Pitt-Greensburg women's soccer team Saturday afternoon at Dobson Field.

With the win, D'Youville improves to 4-7-1 overall and 4-0-1 in conference play, while Pitt-Greensburg falls to 6-5-1 overall and 2-2-0 in the AMCC.

D'Youville held a slight 11-7 advantage in shots for the match, but after totaling just one shot for the first half, Pitt-Greensburg tallied six strikes over the final 45 minutes of the match.

Andi McGinnis led the way offensively for Pitt-Greensburg, tallying a season-best three shots, while Tiffany Michalek, Alexa Fetterman, and Elise Stratil all added attempts. For just the second time all season, Bobcat senior Bri Burgunder was held without a shot.

The Bobcats put together the first scoring opportunity for either team early on in the opening half. In the 10th minute, Fetterman drilled an attempt on goal, but Megan Dulniak made a great save to keep the shot out of the back of the net.

D'Youville would take a 1-0 lead on a goal by Jamiliah McBryde in the 31st minute. Despite tallying five attempts in the opening half, compared to just one for Pitt-Greensburg, the Spartans would head into the half leading just 1-0.

Pitt-Greensburg came close to tying the game just 40 seconds into the second half as McGinnis' attempt forced a great save by Dulniak to keep the ball out of the back of the net.

Unfortunately for Pitt-Greensburg, D'Youville would take advantage and add to its lead just four minutes later. Margret Leeds headed home a free kick in the 50th minute to put the Spartans up 2-0.

Erika Caldro and Michalek both had their shot attempts saves as D'Youville would hold on for the 2-0 victory.
