Women's Soccer Falls In OT At Pitt-Bradford

BRADFORD- Julie Barton's game-winning goal in the 95th minute lifted Pitt-Bradford (5-10-1, 4-4-1) to a 1-0 victory over the Pitt-Greensburg women's soccer team (8-7-1, 4-4-0) Saturday afternoon at Bradford High School.

Barton buried home a pass from Grace Dadza just under five minutes into the first extra period to lift Pitt-Bradford to the dramatic victory. Bradford held a slight 14-11 advantage in shot attempts and after outshooting Pitt-Greensburg 6-3 in the first half, the Bobcats managed seven shots in the second period and two corner kicks.

Bri Burgunder led the way for Pitt-Greensburg, tallying a team-high four shots and two shots on goal, while Allie Grimm also added to the offensive attack with two shots and a shot on goal. Bri Tyson put together a nice game off the bench for the Bobcats, tallying her first shot as well as shot on goal.

Lauren Yoder got the start in net for Pitt-Greensburg and made four saves over the opening 45 minutes. Just over one minute into the second stanza, Alexa Fetterman was brought on and replaced Yoder in goal.

Burgunder came close to putting the Bobcats in front as her shot drilled the cross bar in the 20th minute.  After coming on as a substitute in the second half, Fetterman performed well in net as the sophomore keeper made five saves.

Following the change in goal, Pitt-Greensburg came right down the field and put together a scoring opportunity. Andi McGinnis drilled a shot on goal that forced a quality save from Emily Bethel to keep the game scoreless. The Bobcats fired five shots on frame in the second half, but Bethel was up to the task stopping all five attempts as the match would head to OT after 90 minutes of scoreless play.

The Bobcats had the first scoring chance in the extra period as just over two minutes into the period Burgunder blasted an attempt on frame, but Bethel made the stop. Just two minutes later, Bradford came down to the field and would the game-winning goal for the 1-0 victory.

Pitt-Greensburg returns to action Tuesday afternoon, when it plays host to Franciscan for its regular-season finale at 1 pm.
