Women's Soccer Upended Against Mt. Aloysius Tuesday

GREENSBURG- Jordan Gebhart's 50th minute goal lifted Mt. Aloysius to a 1-0 victory over the Pitt-Greensburg women's soccer team Tuesday afternoon at Ridilla Field.

With the win, Mt. Aloysius remains perfect in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference play, holding a 5-0-1 mark, while Pitt-Greensburg falls to 2-3-0.
Despite giving up the goal just five minutes into the second half, the Bobcats carried the pace of play for much of the half, holding a 6-5 advantage in shots and a 5-2 margin in corner kick opportunities.

Allie Grimm put together a great game of the offensive end, recording a team-high two shots, both of which she put on goal, while teammate Elise Stratil, also contributed with two shot attempts.

Kaity Watson made her fifth-consecutive start in goal for the Bobcats and made six big saves to keep the home side in close proximity to the Mounties.

The Bobcats came out of the gates quickly, putting together two shots and two corner kicks in the opening 15 minutes of the match. Neither side managed to find the back of the net, as the game remained scoreless after 45 minutes of play.

Just five minutes into the second half, Gebhart was 1 on 1 with Watson and scored on the lower left side of the net to put the Mounties up 1-0.

After the goal, Pitt-Greensburg regrouped and won three-straight corner kicks in the 58th, 59th, and 6oth minute. Following the barrage of corner kicks, Grimm drilled a shot from inside the 18-yard box, but Lauren Davey made a great save to keep the Mounties in the lead.

With less than 10 minutes remaining in regulation, Pitt-Greensburg put together multiple scoring opportunities. The Bobcats continued to press in hopes of tying the game at one. In the 82nd minute, Grimm rose above the defense and headed a ball towards the lower left hand part of the net, but Davey once again came up with the big save.

Pitt-Greensburg earned a corner kick in the 84th minute and Stratil corralled the Bri Burgunder cross, but put her shot just wide of the post. Less than three minutes left in regulation, Megan Downey had a great scoring opportunity to tie the game, but put her shot just wide of the post, as the Mounties would hang on for a 1-0 victory.

Pitt-Greensburg returns to action Saturday afternoon, when it plays host to Medaille for Senior Day. Tuesday's match is scheduled to kick-off at 2 pm.
