Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Oberlin Tops Men's Basketball Saturday Afternoon

OBERLIN, Ohio- Oberlin connected on 14-of-28 from behind the three-point arc as the Yeoman went on for a 73-59 victory over the Pitt-Greensburg men's basketball team Saturday afternoon in the final game of the Oberlin Holiday Classic.

Oberlin came out on fire in the first half as they shot 50% from the field and were scoring hot from behind the three-point arc, knocking down nine three-pointers en route to a 37-19 lead at the halftime break.

Pitt-Greensburg had trouble mustering up an offensive attack in the first half as the Bobcats shot just 30% from the field and were 1-of-5 from three. Trailing by 18 points at halftime, the Bobcats regrouped and came out inspired in the second half and shot 50% from the floor, and caught fire from long distance, knocking down 8-of-14.

Defensively in the second half, the Bobcats held the Yeoman to 47% from the floor and 5-of-9 from three, but the 18-point halftime deficit proved to be too much, despite a solid offensive effort in the final half of action.

Cam Seigfreid paced the Bobcats with 15 points, four rebounds, and added three steals, while Cody Spaid chipped in with 12 points, five rebounds, and also notched a game-high four steals. As a team, the Bobcats recorded a season-best nine steals and forced 16 Oberlin turnovers, which they converted into 22 points.

Nate Burt provided a defensive spark off the bench for Pitt-Greensburg, tallying a game-high three blocks, which brings his career total to 102, which ranks second in school history.

Pitt-Greensburg returns to the court next Saturday (January 5) when it travels to Erie, Pa to face Penn State Behrend at 4 pm.
