Women's Basketball Falls To Chapman In Final Game Of West Coast Trip

ORANGE, Ca- The Pitt-Greensburg women's basketball team fell 76-48 to Chapman University in the final game of its West Coast Trip Saturday afternoon in the Hutton Sports Center.

Saturday's matchup was the final game of the Chapman Winter Classic.

Chapman jumped out to a 47-27 halftime lead after shooting just over 50% from the floor, connecting on 20-of-39 field goal attempts, but the Bobcats slowed down the Panther attack in the second half, holding Chapman to just 29 points on 12-of-32 from the floor.

Despite coming up short in the win column, Pitt-Greensburg displayed impressive grit on the boards, as they outrebounded Chapman 48-40, including a single-game high of 19 offensive rebounds.

Nadege Durand helped lead the rebounding effort for Pitt-Greensburg, hauling down a career-best 21 rebounds, which is tied for fifth most in school history for a single-game. Of the 21 rebounds, Durand pulled down a game-high 10 boards on the offensive glass and the sophomore forward recorded her seventh double-double of the year with 11 points.

Colleen Murphy led all Bobcat scorers with a team-high 14 points and chipped in with five rebounds, while Maddie Sitler also posted her second career double-double with 12 points and 10 boards. Sitler scored eight of her 10 points in the second half as the freshman forward knocked down 4-of-6 from the floor.

The Bobcats held a decided advantage at the charity stripe in the second half as they hit 8-of-12 and limited Chapman to just 3-of-9.

Pitt-Greensburg returns to the court next Saturday (January 5) as it takes to the road to face Penn State Behrend at 2 pm.
