@UPGbasketball Holds Off Pitt-Bradford On Senior Day

GREENSBURG- The Pitt-Greensburg men's basketball team ended the 2017-18 season with a 63-55 victory over Pitt-Bradford Saturday afternoon inside Chambers Hall.

Pitt-Greensburg's victory on Saturday completes the season-sweep of Pitt-Bradford and also snapped a five-game losing streak. Prior to Saturday's contest, Joe Mancini, along with his family were honored during the Senior Day festivities. Mancini totaled 11 points in his final collegiate game and ends the season with 71 three-pointers, which is tops in the AMCC and ranks second in school history for most three-pointers in a single-season.

Cam Seigfreid and Jay Grubb each totaled 12 points, while Nate Burt and Kyle Bondi added 11 and 10 points respectively. Grubb notched his first double-double of the season grabbing 10 rebounds, five of which came on the offensive glass, while Bondi also recorded a double-double, grabbing a game-high 12 boards.
Dylan Mitchell led Pitt-Bradford with 17 points and teammate Malique McCoy added 12 off the bench.

Pitt-Greensburg dominated the glass in the victory, holding a 53-33 advantage, including a 10-8 margin on the offensive side.

Despite getting pounded on the glass, Pitt-Bradford kept the game close, forcing 22 Pitt-Greensburg turnovers and cashed the TO's in 28 points.

The Bobcats shot 47% in the opening 20 minutes, hitting 14-of-30 from the field and 5-of-15 from the three as they held 34-30 advantage at halftime. Despite shooting just 27% in the second half, the Panthers kept things close making three shots from behind the three-point arc, while holding Pitt-Greensburg to 0-of-8.

Pitt-Greensburg led for the entire opening 20 minutes of action, with its largest lead (12) coming on a layup from Burt with 8:19 left in the half.

The Bobcats continued to hold the advantage in the second half, but a three-pointer from Christian Perkins tied the game at 39 and a free throw from Dylan Mitchell put the Panthers in front for the firs time.

Bradford pushed its lead to 46-40 with 13:15 left in regulation and would held the advantage for the next six minutes, but two free throws from Brady Kingston put the Bobcats back in the lead (51-49).

Malique McCoy's make at the charity stripe put the Panthers in front 55-53 with 5:21 left in the second half, but that would be the final points of the afternoon for Bradford.

Mancini's layup catapulted the Bobcats back in front for the final time and Pitt-Greensburg ended the game on a 10-0 run for the 63-55 victory.
