Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Balanced Effort Powers @UPG_WBB Past Franciscan

GREENSBURG- The Pitt-Greensburg women's basketball team completed the season sweep of Franciscan with a 53-39 victory Wednesday evening in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matchup inside Chambers Hall.

With Wednesday's victory, Pitt-Greensburg has won three-in-a-row and improves to 6-16 overall and 6-9 in the AMCC, while Franciscan falls to 0-20, and 0-15 in conference play.

After trailing 10-2 midway through the opening quarter, the Bobcats continued to claw back and eventually tied the game at 13 on an old-fashioned three-point effort from Nadege Durand.  Pitt-Greensburg then took the lead for good with under a minute left on a layup from Colleen Murphy. Pitt-Greensburg's largest lead of the evening happened just under midway in the final quarter as Andi McGinnis hit a jumper to put the Bobcats ahead 51-31.

For a second-straight outing, the Bobcats dominated their opponent defensively, holding Franciscan to just 23.5% from floor on 12-of-51 shooting and just 6-of-26 from the field over the final 20 minutes of play.

Offensively, Pitt-Greensburg once again did a great job of distributing the basketball, totaling 15 assists on 20 made field goals. Kelsey Oddis, Maddy Coddington, and Durand each posted three assists to lead the Bobcats, while Sam Ballow came off the bench and chipped in with two dimes.

Oddis posted a game-high 12 points and grabbed 15 boards to secure her 14th double-double of the season. The senior guard/forward was held to just two points in the opening half, after picking up her second personal foul and remained on the bench for the majority of the first half. Oddis did not pick up a foul over the final 20 minutes and totaled 10 points and 11 boards during that span.

McGinnis provided a spark off the bench for Pitt-Greensburg, recording a career-best nine points on 4-of-9 from the floor, while Cat Gollihugh also provided a hot hand, knocking down two three's.

The Bobcats continued to pound the glass on both ends of the court throughout the 40 minutes of play, outrebounding the Barons 50-29, including 12-3 advantage on the offensive glass.

Pitt-Greensburg puts its three-game win streak to the test Saturday, when it treks to Buffalo, N.Y. to face Hilbert at 3 pm.
