@Pittgbg Upends Grove City In Game Two Of Doubleheader Monday Afternoon

GREENSBURG- The Pitt-Greensburg baseball team got a dominant start from Andy Prentice and a scoreless relief appearance from Ben Green as the Bobcats topped Grove City 4-2 in the second game of a doubleheader, Monday afternoon at R.J. Behringer Field.

Prentice put together a dominant start of the mound for the Bobcats, allowing just two runs on five hits in 5.2 innings of work and striking out five to earn his second win of the season. Green was brought on in relief with two outs in the sixth inning, and the freshman hurler did not allow a hit in 1.1 innings to record his first save of the season.

Offensively, Reno Rainey led the way, going 5-for-7 at the plate, with two doubles, three runs, and three RBI, while Tyler Holland and Chris Common each collected two RBI on the afternoon. Zack Zimmerman, Holland, and Noah Beasley each recorded multi-hit efforts. Beasley and Rainey each totaled three runs a piece over the two games, and Spadafore, Zimmerman, and Daniel Kiester each crossed home plate.

Game 2- Pitt-Greensburg 4, Grove City 2

Pitt-Greensburg jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first as Rainey doubled home Beasley for the first run of the game. Beasley led off with a single and Zimmerman put down a sacrifice bunt to move Beasley over to second, and the freshman infielder would come around to score on Rainey's two-bag base hit.

The Bobcat offense added to their lead in the third as Rainey and Holland each collected an RBI to put the visitors ahead 3-0 after three innings of play. Beasley drew a one-out walk and proceeded to steal second. After the second out by Zimmerman, Rainey doubled home Beasley and Holland followed with a run-scoring single to plate Rainey for the third run of the game.

The freshman first baseman was it at again in the fifth, as he recorded his third RBI of the game. Zimmerman smacked a two-out double and Rainey followed with a run-scoring base knock to put Pitt-Greensburg ahead 4-0.

In the bottom of the sixth, Prentice ran into a bit of trouble as the freshman right hander allowed a leadoff double and walked the second batter of the inning to give the Wolverines runners on first and second with no outs. Prentice struck out Burke for the first out of the inning but walked Dayton to load the bases. Hammel was sent down on strikes for the second out, but Prentice walked Orner with the bases juiced for the first run of the game for Grove City. Green was brought on in relief of Prentice and after walking his first batter for the second run of the inning, struck Boyle out looking at the third strike for the final out of the inning.

Green made quick work of the Wolverines in the seventh. After allowing a one-out walk, Green got Clary to fly out and fanned Burke to send Pitt-Greensburg to the 4-2 victory.

Grove City added two runs in the second to take a 6-0 lead, but the Bobcats got their offense clicking in the third. Spadafore and Kiester got the inning going with one-out walks, and Beasley smacked an RBI double to score Spadafore for the first run of the inning.
