Game Recap: Baseball |

@Pittgbgbaseball Takes Two From Crosstown Rival St. Vincent

LATROBE- The Pitt-Greensburg baseball team won both games of a doubleheader against St. Vincent Monday afternoon. Pitt-Greensburg won both games by identical scores of 11-1.

Game 1- Pitt-Greensburg 11, St. Vincent 1

In the opening game of the afternoon, Pitt-Greensburg got a fantastic pitching performance from junior Dakota McWilliams, who tossed his first career complete game victory, allowing just eight hits and added a strikeout for his second win of the season.

Both teams tallied a run in the first inning, but it was all Bobcats for the remainder of the contest.

Zack Zimmerman reached base on a fielders choice and proceeded to steal second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Dan Kiester followed with a walk and
Mike Spadafore brought home the first run on a fielder's choice. Kiester was called out at second base, but Zimmerman scored on the play. Spadafore then stole second base and came around to score when Chris Common reached base on an error by the Bearcat centerfielder. Later in the inning, Tyler Holland Mike Parlak both plated runs with RBI singles as Pitt-Greensburg led 5-1 after two innings.

Pat Aul drove in two runs in the fourth, Chris Common plated runs in the fifth and seventh, and Tyler Holland scored Spadafore on a sacrifice fly in the seventh as Pitt-Greensburg took the opening game of the day 11-1.

Game 2- Pitt-Greensburg 11, St. Vincent 1

The Bobcats carried the momentum into game two and proceeded to score four runs in their first at-bats. Ian Hart scored two on a single and Evan Johnston brought in a run with a single to right field. Common also scored in the inning when Holland reached base on a fielding error by St. Vincent.

The Bearcats tallied a run in the bottom of the first, but that was their lone score of the afternoon.

Parlak scored Spadafore in the second with a sacrifice fly and in the third, Pacelli drove in Johnston with a single to right field to increase the Bobcat advantage to 6-1 after three innings.

Pitt-Greensburg would add three additional runs in the fourth and two in the fifth and would complete the doubleheader sweep of St. Vincent, 11-1.

The Bobcats return to the field Wednesday, when they travel to Hamburg, N.Y. to face Hilbert for their AMCC regular-season finale. Wednesday's twin-bill is set for 1 pm.
