HOW IT HAPPENED
Pitt-Greensburg came out of the gates strong with a big first inning. Zimmerman set the tone offensively, drawing a leadoff walk and advanced all the way to third on an error and passed ball respectively. The senior third baseman came around to score the game's first run as Rainey came through with a clutch hit to right field. Holland followed with a base-knock to right field and Parlak put together a great at-bat, drawing a walk to load the bases. Dolan knocked in the second run of the inning on a sacrifice fly as the Bobcats led 2-0 after one inning of action.

The Redhawks bats were kept silent at the plate by senior Brandon Hoener, who tossed six strong innings, giving up just eight hits and struck out four.

Pitt-Greensburg continued to hold a 2-0 lead but would extend its advantage to three runs as Reno smacked a two-out double to left field and came around to score on a throwing error. Rainey bolted for third with an attempted steal of third base and Shane Roebuck's throw sailed over Elmo Trickett's head, which allowed Rainey to come around and score.

La Roche answered with a run of its own in the home half of the fifth inning. Gino Quahliero smacked a one-out single to right field and advanced to third on a base hit by Johnathan Melendez. The La Roche second baseman came around to score on a sacrifice fly by Dylan Urban as La Roche cut the Pitt-Greensburg lead to 3-2.

Through six innings of play, Hoener displayed some of his best stuff in the final start of the season, as the senior hurler allowed just two runs on four hits.

Unfournately for Pitt-Greensburg, La Roche would strike for five runs in the seventh inning, four of which came on a grand slam by Urban, which propelled the Redhawks to their fifth-straight AMCC Championship with a 7-3 victory.
