Women's Soccer Dominates Hilbert To Open AMCC Play Saturday Afternoon

GREENSBURG- The Pitt-Greensburg women's soccer team picked up a 5-0 victory over Hilbert in its Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opener Saturday afternoon at Ridilla Field.

Pitt-Greensburg dominated on both sides of the field, outshooting the Hawks 27-3 and held Hilbert to zero shots on goal and just one corner kick.

Kaitlyn Watson started the game for the Bobcats and played the entire first half, while freshman keeper Lauren Yoder was brought on as a substitute and played the second 45 minutes.

Bri Burgunder opened with the game's first two goals. Burgunder gave the Bobcats a 1-0 with her fifth goal of the season in the seventh minute and just a short time later, Burgunder struck again with her second of the match to put the Bobcats ahead 2-0.

With 15 minutes left in the opening half, the Bobcats continued to push the attack in hopes of scoring their third goal. The persistence paid off when McKenzie Huntebrinker found the back of the net for her first career strike in the 30th minute.

Seven minute later, Tori Conroy drilled a shot from 40 yards out that went over the head and out of the reach of the Hawk goalkeeper for her first goal of the season and the Bobcats fourth goal of the match.

The Bobcats dominated the opening 45 minutes of playing outshooting the Hawks 16-3 and took a 4-0 advantage into the locker room.

The second half was much of the same for the home side as they outshot Hilbert 11-0 over the final 45 minutes. Allie Grimm added to the scoreboard for Pitt-Greensburg in the 68th minute, as the sophomore midfielder notched her second of the season. Grimm dribbled through multiple defenders and slid it past the keeper and into the net to send the Bobcats to the 5-0 win.

Pitt-Greensburg returns to action Tuesday night, when it takes to the road to face Penn State Altoona at 6 pm.
