Women's Basketball Tops Medaille In AMCC Matchup Saturday Afternoon

GREENSBURG- Four players totaled double-figures to propel the Pitt-Greensburg women's basketball team (5-9, 4-3 AMCC) to a 66-51 victory over Medaille (3-11, 1-6 AMCC), Saturday afternoon in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matchup inside Chambers Hall.

This was the first home contest for the Bobcats in nearly a month, as they last played in Chambers Hall on Dec. 18 against La Roche.

Pitt-Greensburg led for virtually the entire afternoon as Medaille grabbed a 5-4 lead with 7:28 left in the first quarter, but on the next possession, Maddie Sitler's layup put the Bobcats in the lead which they would not relinquish for the rest of the game.

The Bobcats had four players reach double-figures in the victory, led by Nadege Durand, who totaled 17 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for her sixth-straight double-double and her 10th of the season. The sophomore forward also dished out five assists, totaled two blocks and added two steals.

Colleen Murphy added 16 points, seven rebounds, and three steals, followed by Sitler who chipped in 14 points and eight rebounds. Cat Gollihugh came off the bench and gave Pitt-Greensburg great production, scoring 10 points and also tied a career-best with nine rebounds. Gollihugh had just two points in the first half, but helped solidify the win for the Bobcats tallying eight points after halftime, as well as dishing out four dimes.

Morgan Kennedy led the Mavericks with a game-high 19 points and 16 rebounds.

The Bobcats struggled offensively in the opening 20 minutes, shooting just 33% from the field and just 1-of-8 from three-point distance, but after the halftime break, shot 50% from the field and made 3-of-7 attempts from the charity stripe.

Pitt-Greensburg once again won the battle of the boards, outrebounding the Mavericks 49-40, including 17 boards on the offensive glass, which they turned into nine second chance points. Saturday's matchup against the Mavericks is the fourth-straight game the Bobcats have won the rebounding battle and have now outrebounded their opponents in six of the last seven games.

The Bobcats also did a great job of distributing the basketball on offense, totaling 16 assists on 24 made field goals. Six of the seven players that saw action in Saturday's game recorded at least one assist.

Pitt-Greensburg returns to the court Wednesday evening, playing host to Mt. Aloysius at 6 pm.
