Women's Basketball Pulls Out OT Win Against D'Youville

GREENSBURG- For a second-straight game, Pitt-Greensburg and D'Youville needed overtime to decide a winner, but this time it was the Bobcats who secured an 80-70 victory Monday afternoon inside Chambers Hall.

Monday's match-up was the second game in roughly 36 hours between the two schools. D'Youville and Pitt-Greensburg faced each other Saturday afternoon and it was the Spartans who pulled out a 91-87 win, but on Monday afternoon the Bobcats prevailed in OT, 80-70.

Pitt-Greensburg had three players reach double-figures, including two with 20 or more points, led by Nadege Durand's game-high 25 points and 20 rebounds, 14 of which she grabbed on the offensive glass. Maddie Sitler also reached the 20-point plateau for the second time this season, notching 24 and nine rebounds. Colleen Murphy added 19 points, seven rebounds, and had two steals to help propel the Bobcats to the win.

Four players reached double-figures for D'Youville, led by Sara Field's 18, and 13 points and 15 rebounds from Danielle Hore.

Pitt-Greensburg dominated the glass in the victory, holding a 58-46 advantage, but more impressively hauled 29 boards on the offensive glass, which they turned into 28 second chance points, compared to just nine for the Spartans.

The Bobcats also did an excellent job of getting to the foul line totaling 24 makes on 35 attempts and defensively, limited the Spartans to just five makes on 11 attempts.
Early in the fourth quarter, the Spartans held a 57-50 lead following a jumper by Field with 8:59 remaining in regulation.

The Spartans continued to hold the lead late into regulation, holding a six-point advantage (65-59) with just under two minutes left. Following the bucket from Hore to put D'Youville up six, Pitt-Greensburg held the visitors scoreless over the final 1:47 and would come all the way back to tie things up at 65 on Durand's layup.

After the layup to tie the game, D'Youville called a timeout and advanced the ball into the front court with a chance to win the game. On the ensuing possession, the Spartans passed the ball to Jordan Smith, whose last second jumper was no good and the contest would head to an extra period for the second straight game.

Pitt-Greensburg got off to a great start to begin the overtime, scoring seven of the first eight points and would lead 72-66 on a three by Sitler with 4:08 left in overtime.

Aided by great defense and clutch shooting on the offensive glass, the Bobcats would never trail in overtime and lead by as much as 10. Pitt-Greensburg made efficient use of the foul line in the overtime period, hitting 10-of-14 attempts and would go on for the 80-70 victory.

The Bobcats return to the court Wednesday evening, when they take to the road to face La Roche at 6 P.M.
