Women's Basketball Falls At Home To Pitt-Bradford

GREENSBURG- Despite a game-high 24 points from sophomore Nadege Durand, the Pitt-Greensburg women's basketball team (6-12, 5-7 AMCC) fell 84-56 to Pitt-Bradford (6-10, 6-5 AMCC), in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference match-up Saturday afternoon inside Chambers Hall. 

Pitt-Bradford held just a six-point lead going into the halftime break, but would go on for the 84-56 win with a strong second half. The Panthers totaled 52 points after the halftime intermission, shot 53% from the floor, and went 14-17 from the free-throw line. 

Durand led the way for Pitt-Greensburg, scoring a team-high 24 points and recorded her 13th double-double of the season with 12 rebounds. Durand also had two blocks and three steals, while Maddy Coddington chipped in with nine points on 3-of-5 from the floor and added a steal. 

Pitt-Bradford had five players reach double-figures, led by Latifah Cain's 22 points, three rebounds, and two steals. Etreece Adams contributed 11 points and secured the double-double with 14 boards. 

The Panthers led for the entire first quarter, leading by as much as seven on a bucket by Adams with 1:12 left in the opening stanza. The Bobcats would cut the deficit to one on a basket by Colleen Murphy with 5:59 left in the quarter, but two free-throws by  Jennifer Isenberg pushed the Panthers to a three-point advantage. Bradford held the Bobcats scoreless over the final 3:08 of the period and led 18-11 heading into the second quarter. 

Pitt-Bradford extended its lead to nine (20-11) on an early bucket by Isenberg, but Pitt-Greensburg responded with a 10-0 run over the next three minutes and would take their first lead, 21-20 on two makes at the charity stripe by Durand. 

Unfortunately for Pitt-Greensburg, that would be their lone lead of the contest. Following the two free-throws, Shirleah Ragin put the Panthers back in front and Pitt-Bradford led 32-26 at halftime . 

The Bobcats would get within five points (39-34) midway through the third period on a free-throw by Durand, but Pitt Bradford would take control of the contest with a 15-7 run to end the period. 

Pitt-Bradford scored 30 points in the fourth quarter and would go on for an 84-56 victory. 

Pitt-Greensburg returns to the court Wednesday evening, playing host to Penn State Altoona at 6 pm.
