Men’s Basketball Rides Big Second Half To Defeat Penn State Altoona

GREENSBURG- Pitt-Greensburg (7-13, 4-9 AMCC) led by just two at the halftime intermission, but shot 60% in the second half to record a 93-80 victory over Penn State Altoona (6-13, 5-8 AMCC), Wednesday night in Chambers Hall.

With the win, Pitt-Greensburg has now won two-straight games and three of its last four. The Bobcats also evened the season-series between the two teams as Penn State Altoona defeated Pitt-Greensburg 99-95 earlier this month inside the Adler Center.

Four players reached double-figures for the Bobcats, led by Cam Seigfreid's game-high 23 points on 6-of-11 from the field. The sophomore guard came up clutch from the free-throw line, hitting all nine of his attempts. JoJo France added 20 points, followed by 16 and five assists from Brady Kingston, while Cody Spaid totaled 10 points, 10 rebounds, and a game-high seven assists.

As a team, the Bobcats dished out 19 assists on 32 made field goals and utilized the free-throw line to their advantage, connecting on 21-of-29, 16 of those makes came in the second half.

Penn State Altoona had three players reach double-digits led by Tyson West's 15 points.

Pitt-Greensburg led for much of the first half leading by as much nine (37-28) with under five minutes left in the half following a layup by Kingston. After the Kingston bucket, Altoona erased the eight-point lead with a 8-0 run to tie the game at 37 on a jumper by Danny Brown, but two late free-throws gave the Bobcats a 39-37 advantage at halftime.

The Bobcats carried the advantage into the second half, but with 14:45 left in regulation, Jack Kusters' basket put Altoona in front 53-52. The Bobcats would not be deterred as they came right back on the next trip down the court and retook the lead.

A three by Tyson West made it a one-point game (72-71) with just over eight minutes left in the contest, but over the next seven minutes, Pitt-Greensburg outscored the Lions 15-7 to put the game away. The Bobcats shot 60% after the halftime break and would go on for the 93-80 victory.

Pitt-Greensburg takes its win-streak to Buffalo, N.Y. for its next matchup Saturday afternoon, when it takes on Medaille at 3 p.m.
