ALTOONA- The Pitt-Greensburg women's basketball team (4-9, 3-3 AMCC) grabbed a season-high 21 offensive rebounds, but would fall 79-63 to Penn State Altoona (7-7, 5-3 AMCC), in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matchup Wednesday evening inside Adler Arena.

As a team, Pitt-Greensburg outrebounded Altoona 47-38, which included a 21-12 advantage on the offensive glass. The Bobcats then turned the extra posessions into 11 second chance points. With the rebounding advantage against the Lions, Pitt-Greensburg has now outrebounded its opponents seven times this season, including in three-straight games.

Nadege Durand led the rebounding effort for the Bobcats, hauling down 15 boards to go along with 23 points for her fifth-straight double-double and her ninth this season. Colleen Murphy and Sam Ballow were also in double-figures for the Bobcats as the guard duo each added 11 points and eight rebounds.

Alycia Lynch provided solid minutes off the bench as the freshman forward scored a career-best seven points, which included a three and a perfect 2-for-2 effort from the foul line.

Three players posted double-figures for Altoona, led by Finnley Christine's game-high 23 points, followed by 21 from Kaley Strittmatter and 16 by Alexis Cannistraci. Jessica Stevens hauled down a game-high 17 boards to help propel the Lions to the victory.

The two sides traded baskets to begin the contest, but following a bucket from Finley to tie the score at seven, Ballow connected on a three pointer and Maddie Sitler hit a free-throw to extend the Pitt-Greensburg lead to 11-7 with 6:18 left in the opening quarter.

Following Sitler's free-throw, Altoona would reel off a 16-0 run, which was capped by a three-pointer from Paige Burk with 1:33 left in the period.

Pitt-Greensburg ended the period scoring six of the final seven points, including Lynch's layup at the Buzzer, which cut the Altoona lead to 24-18 heading into the second quarter.

Strittmatter connected on a three to begin the quarter to extend the Lion lead to nine, but the Bobcats continued to claw their way back and would get within four points (33-29) on two separate occasions, including on two free-throws by Durand with 2:55 left in the period.

Following the free-throws by Durand, Penn State Altoona ended the quarter on a 9-2 run and would lead 42-31 at halftime.

The Lions would remain ahead for the entire second half, but Pitt-Greensburg outscored Altoona 21-17 over the final 10 minute period. Despite ending on a positive note with its best scoring quarter of the evening, the Bobcats would fall 79-63.
