Men's Tennis Rolls Past Penn State Altoona

ALTOONA- The Pitt-Greensburg men's tennis team rolled to an 8-1 victory over Penn State Altoona Sunday afternoon at The Summit Tennis and Athletic Club. 

With the win, Pitt-Greensburg improves to 3-2 overall and 3-1 in the conference. 

Pitt-Greensburg jumped out to a commanding 3-0 lead with wins at all three doubles matches and carried the momentum into singles play, winning five of the six contests.

Turner Price and Vaughn Hunkele rolled to an 8-0 win at #1 doubles, Terrance Madarish and Chris Marinchek won 8-1, and Andrew Oden and Francisco Garcia made it a clean sweep for the Bobcats, winning 8-5. 

In singles play, Price did not give up a point winning 6-0, 6-0 in the #1 match, Hunkele won 6-1, 6-2 at #3, Madarish claimed a 6-4, 6-4 win at #4, and Andrew Oden won 6-4, 6-1 at #5. Garcia pulled out a third-set tiebreak at #6 to pick up the win for the Bobcats. Garcia dropped the opening set 6-3, but would come back to win set two, 6-1 and would pull out a 13-11 win in the tiebreak. 

Sunday's win concludes the fall portion of the schedule for Pitt-Greensburg. The Bobcats will return to the court Sunday, March 1 at Medaille.
