GALLOWAY, NJ- The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg women's basketball team dominated the City College of New York, 88-53, Sunday (Nov. 17) afternoon in the consolation matchup of the Stockton University Tip Off Tournament. With the win the Bobcats improve to 2-1 and the Beavers drop to 0-3.

Shaquoia McCray posted a double-double with 20 rebounds, half of which she grabbed on the offensive end to go along with 16 points in the blowout victory. Maddie Sitler led the Bobcats in points with 17, while Lizzie Penrose and Colleen Murphy each added 13 of their own.

In total, Pitt-Greensburg hauled down a school-record 62 rebounds in the win, and the 35-point victory is the largest under third-year head coach Hayley Schaetzle.

Pitt-Greensburg gained their first double digit lead of the game thanks to 9-0 run in the first quarter. The run spanned from 5:30 to 3:59 in the quarter. Sitler scored 4 points during that time and Murphy converted an and-one layup to make the score 19-8 capping off the run.

CCNY made one basket and then Pitt-Greensburg went on another tear. For the remainder of the first frame and two minutes into the second the Bobcats went on a commanding 21-0 run. The Bobcats went 10 for 13 from the field over the five-plus minute run and swiped four steals from the Beavers. Sitler led the way with seven points during the 21-0 spurt.

Pitt-Greensburg had their largest lead of the first half (42 points) when LeeAnn Harris knocked down a free-throw and Pitt-Greensburg would take a 58-20 advantage into the locker room.

The lead got up to 47 points halfway through the third quarter, which was the biggest of the game. McCray capped off a 10-0 run to get that 47-point advantage. The Bobcats cruised the rest of the way to the 35 point victory.

Pitt-Greensburg owned the paint, outscoring CCY 50-16 held a commanding 62-38 advantage on the glass. UPG also got great production from its bench, totaling 44 points from its non-starters. McCray and Penrose both came off the bench and combined for 29 points to help aid the Bobcats in the win.

GCC is unbeaten (3-0) on the year, coming off an Allegheny College Tournament championship. The Bobcats have won their home opener each of the last two seasons.
