GREENSBURG – Pitt-Greensburg women's volleyball took on Penn State Behrend, who entered the match undefeated in AMCC play. The Bobcats forced five sets, and almost upset Behrend's perfect AMCC record, but come up on the short end falling 3-2. Their record ends at 7-19 overall, and 3-7 in AMCC matches.
Prior to the match, Pitt-Greensburg honored its two seniors, Emma Dongilli and Kassi Niver. Niver was also recognized her totaling 1,000 career digs, which she accomplished this past Wednesday at Penn State Altoona, and in the second set, Dongilli was recognized for eclipsing 2,000 career assists.
Throughout the match both teams played evenly, alternating set wins. Pitt-Greensburg took the first set 25-21, winning on an all around great team performance. The second set saw Penn State win 25-21, while the Bobcats took set three, 25-21 behind a gritty solid effort. In the fourth set the Bobcats faltered slightly and fell, 25-11, however in the fifth and final set they went back and forth with Behrend and played to the end, but ultimately lost 15-11.
Dongilli had a match high 44 assists, while also recording 16 digs. Niver totaled 24 digs and three aces, while sophomore Mackenzie Schropp added 16 digs, and tied the match high of 15 kills.
