Women’s Basketball Dominates The Glass In Win Over Franciscan To Open AMCC Play

GREENSBURG- The University of Pitt-Greensburg women's basketball team defeated Franciscan University Tuesday (Nov. 26) night by a score of 67-49. The Bobcats have now won their AMCC opener for the fifth straight year. With the win, Pitt-Greensburg evens their overall record to 3-3, while Franciscan falls to 1-3. 

Nadege Durand led the way scoring and, on the boards, as she collected her third double-double of the year. Durand netted 24 points and corralled 11 rebounds. Shaquoia McCray was also in double-figures for the Bobcats, as the junior forward tallied 16 points. Maddie Sitler came down with 10 rebounds to join Durand as the two with double-digit boards. 

The Bobcats forced 19 turnovers and converted the extra possessions into 24 points. Pitt-Greensburg also dominated in close to the basket, holding a commanding 42-28 advantage in the paint. The Bobcats also dominated the glass on both ends of the court as they outrebounded the Barons 51-28, including a 20-8 margin on the offensive glass, which they converted into 17 second chance points compared to just eight for Franciscan.  

Defensively, Pitt-Greensburg held Franciscan to just 33.3% shooting (19 of 57) and just 4-of-26 from behind the three-point arc.  

Pitt-Greensburg will welcome Penn State Behrend to town on Saturday (Nov. 30) for their next contest. The tip for the game is set for 4 pm inside Chambers Hall.
