Women’s Basketball Edged At Hilbert Saturday Afternoon

HAMBURG, NY- The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg women's basketball team dropped an AMCC contest at Hilbert College, 58-50, on Saturday (Dec. 14). The Bobcats move to 4-6 overall and 2-3 in conference, meanwhile the Hawks improve to 7-3 overall and 4-1 in AMCC play. 

Maddie Sitler and Nadege Durand each netted 13 points to lead the Bobcats, while Colleen Murphy added 10 of her own to round out the double-digit scorers for Pitt-Greensburg. Durand corralled eight rebounds and both Sidney McCully and Shaquoia McCray each hauled down six boards. As a team, the Bobcats outrebounded Hilbert, 41-34. Pitt-Greensburg has outrebounded its opponents in all but two games so far this season

Hilbert led the contest wire to wire. The largest lead came early in the third quarter at 8:31, when the Hawks went ahead by 14 (37-23). Murphy made a three pointer with 1:10 left in the first quarter to make the game tied at 10, which was the only tie on the afternoon

Pitt-Greensburg kept the game close in the early parts of the second quarter. At 5:32 Murphy made another three to bring the Bobcats within two, but Hilbert answered that with a 13-2 run to take a 34-23 lead into the locker room.

The Hawks kept their distance for most of the second half. A Sitler three pointer at 3:31 in the fourth quarter got the Bobcats as close as they would get in the half at 53-46.

Pitt-Greensburg returns to the hardwood on Saturday (Dec. 21) at 4 pm in a road AMCC matchup against LaRoche College.
