Second Half Spurt Lifts Hilbert Past Men’s Basketball

HAMBURG- After trailing 42-37 at halftime, Hilbert shot 65% in the second half and rolled to a 98-76 victory over the Pitt-Greensburg men's basketball team Saturday afternoon in the regular-season finale.

Pitt-Greensburg shot the ball well in the loss, connecting on 50% (30-of-60) from the floor, but Hilbert used a stifling defense that forced 24 turnovers, which were converted into 35 points compared to just eight for the Bobcats.

The Bobcats shot 47% in the opening 20 minutes of play, hitting 15-of-32 attempts, while defensively, held the Hawks to 32.5% (13-of-40) and just 3-of-11 from behind the three-point arc.

Cam Seigfreid and Nate Burt each tallied 16 points to lead the Bobcats, while Kyle Bondi was also in double-figures for his final collegiate appearance, notching 13 points on 5-of-11 from the floor and knocked down 3-of-4 from the charity stripe. The 16 points off the bench of a career-high for Burt.

JoJo France put together an all-around solid performance, tallying seven points six rebounds, and dished out five assists.

Hilbert had six players reach double-figures led by Joseph Braniecki's game-high 18 points.

Hilbert led for much of the first half, but France's layup with 4:38 remaining put the Bobcats in front for the remainder of the period. Following the layup by France, Pitt-Greensburg ended the half on an 8-4 spurt to grab a 42-37 advantage at the break.

The lead would not last long into the second half as less than 90 seconds into the period, Masia Phillips put the Hawks back in front for good. Hilbert shot 65% over the final 20 minutes of play and would go on for a 98-76 victory.
