Goals From Michalek And Lucas Propel Women’s Soccer Past Wisconsin-Platteville

GREENSBURG- Tiffany Michalek and Ashley Lucas tallied a goal for a second-straight game as the Pitt-Greensburg women's soccer team (2-0-0) won its second-straight match to open the season posting a 2-0 shutout victory over Wisconsin-Platteville (0-2-0) Saturday afternoon.

With the victory, the Bobcats move to 2-0, which is the first time under Chuck Wigle that Pitt-Greensburg has posted wins in its first two contests to start the season.

Saturday's game featured scoring chances from both sides as Pitt-Greensburg and Wisconsin-Platteville each tallied 13 shots and had eight shots-on-goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Yoder stood tall in net for the Bobcats stopping all eight shots that came her way to earn her second-straight shutout victory.

Michalek broke the scoreless tie in the 30th minute as she rocketed a shot from inside of the 18-yard box to the left hand corner of the net to put the Bobcats up 1-0.

With the outcome in question, Pitt-Greensburg regrouped at the halftime break and just seven minutes into the second stanza, Lucas took a pass from Alexa Fetterman and buried the shot for her second goal of the season, which gave the Bobcats the 2-0 win.

Pitt-Greensburg returns to action next Saturday (Sept. 7) when it takes to the road to face Muskingum at 3 pm.
