Women’s Soccer Scores 3-0 Victory Over St. Vincent To Begin 2019 Season

GREENSBURG- The Pitt-Greensburg women's soccer team notched three second half goals in a 3-0 shutout victory over cross-town rival St. Vincent in the 2019 season opener Friday afternoon at Ridilla Field.

Pitt-Greensburg dominated in virtually every facet of the game, holding a 25-2 advantage in shot attempts as well 9-0 in corner kick opportunities. Defensively, the Bobcats played solidly and did not commit a foul.

Sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Yoder made two saves en route to her fourth career shutout.

Despite outshooting the Bearcats 12-1 in the opening 45 minutes of action, Pitt-Greensburg could not beat Bearcat net minder Abigail Johnson as the match remained scoreless at the halftime breaking.

Following the 15 minute intermission, the Bobcats struck for three second half goals. Ashley Lucas found the back of the net in the 56th minute off a great feed from Alexsia Barlamas. Tiffany Michalek pushed the Pitt-Greensburg advantage to two goals with a 79th minute brace as she was the recipient from a great feed from Barlamas. With just under four minutes left in regulation, Allie Grimm ended any hope of a St. Vincent comeback as the junior forward drilled a shot into the back of the net to give the Bobcats the 3-0 advantage.

Pitt-Greensburg returns to action tomorrow afternoon (Saturday) when it plays host to Wisconsin-Platteville for a non-conference matchup.
