Women’s Volleyball Falls In Straight-Sets At Westminster

NEW WILMINGTON- The Pitt-Greensburg volleyball team fell in straight-sets (3-0) to Westminster, in a non-conference matchup Tuesday evening inside the Buz Ridl Gymnasium.

Westminster took all three sets by scores of 25-12, 25-11, 25-13.

Pitt-Greensburg totaled 13 assists on 16 kills in the loss and on the defensive side added three blocks and three service aces.

Alexis Ray led the way with five kills, followed by three from Savanna Stephens, and two from Mackenzie Schropp. Emma Dongilli led the Bobcats with 10 assists as well as 10 digs.

Westminster opened the score in the first set and took a 1-0 advantage on a kill by Samantha Kelly. The Bobcats tied the set at 1-1 on a Titan attacking error, but the home side reels off five straight-sets to grab hold of the set.

Pitt-Greensburg help an early lead in set two as Sabre Turner tied the score with a kill and Trinity Ryan followed with an ace, but the Titans would come right back and score 11 of the next 13 points and go on to win set two.

Westminster never trailed in set three and took the match in straight-sets.

Pitt-Greensburg returns to the court this weekend, taking part in the Catholic University of America Tournament, where it will face Keuka College Friday evening (6 pm) before wrapping up the event against Catholic and Wesley the following day.
