Men's Tennis Takes Two Of The Doubles Matches But Falls To Behrend

ERIE- Despite winning two of the three doubles matches, the Pitt-Greensburg men's tennis team would lose 6-3 at Penn State Behrend in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opener Saturday afternoon at the Behrend Courts.

Pitt-Greensburg picked up wins at both the #1 and #3 doubles matches, but Behrend would record victories in five of the six singles matches en route to the 6-3 victory.

Turner Price and Vaughn Hunkele rolled to an 8-3 win at the top doubles match, while Andrew Oden and Francisco Garcia eeked out an 8-6 victory in the #3 doubles spot.

Chris Marinchek and Terrance Madarish fought tooth and nail in the second doubles match, but would come up just short, falling 8-6.

Price remained undefeated in AMCC singles match as the reigning AMCC Player of the Year reeled off a straight-set 6-0, 7-5 win in the top singles spot.

Madarish and Noah Colvin were deadlocked in the longest match of the afternoon, as the Bobcta senior rolled to a 6-0 win in set one, but Colvin forced a third set tiebreak with a 6-2 win in set two. Ultimately, it was Colvin that outlasted Madarish 11-9 in the tiebreak to give the Lions the point.

Pitt-Greensburg returns to the court tomorrow afternoon, when it takes on Bethany in a road contest set for a 1 pm start.
