BRADFORD, PA- The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg men's basketball team completed a regular- season sweep of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, Saturday afternoon with a 92-72 victory. The Bobcats improve to 16-4 and 12-3 in the AMCC, while the Panthers fall to 1-18 and remain winless in conference at 0-14.
Cam Seigfreid missed just three shots all day (8-11), while going a perfect 2-2 from three and 5-5 from the free throw line to cash in a game-high 23 points. Matt Johnson and JoJo France were also in double-figures collecting c14 points apiece.
Torian Jenkins earned his third double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Two of his three double-doubles have come against the Panthers, as he had 12 points and 18 rebounds in their January 4th matchup.
Seigfreid answered the Panthers opening three pointer with one of his own and the Bobcats would not trail the rest of the game. The game stayed within single digits for the first 14 and a half minutes until a Tommy Arbuckle three ball made it 32-31 Bobcats at the 5:30 mark of the first half. Seigfreid connected on the Bobcats next possession to complete an 8-0 run and give UPG their largest lead of the first half (13 points).
Out of the halftime break, Pitt-Bradford trimmed their 12-point deficit down to six (47-41), but they would get no closer the rest of the way. Johnson converted an old fashioned three-point play and returned Pitt-Greensburg's advantage to double figures (53-43) at 16:54.
UPG's double figure lead stayed intact for the remainder of the game, except for when UPB cut it to nine for a 34 second span half way thru the second half. A nearly three-minute, 11-0 run by Pitt-Greensburg stretched their lead to a game high 26 points, 92-66 with 2:08 to play. Pitt-Bradford scored the last six points of the game to make the final 92-72.
The Bobcats shot a season best 95% (20-21) from the free throw line, in games they had double digit attempts. The sharp shooting from the free throw line follows an 8-for-8 performance by the squad in their last game at Penn State Behrend, making them 28 for their last 29 from the charity stripe.
UPG shot 52.4% from the floor and held UPB to 37.3% shooting. The visitors owned the paint, outscoring the home Panthers 48-18 there. On the fast break, Pitt-Greensburg scored 16 points compared to Pitt-Bradford's four.
Pitt-Greensburg will take on Penn State Altoona on Wednesday at 6 pm inside Chambers Hall on the campus of UPG. The Bobcats beat the Lions by 7 points (81-74) in Altoona in their previous matchup this season.
