GREENSBURG, PA- The University of Pittsburgh women's basketball team put together a dominating performance on both ends of the court as they defeated Medaille, 82-35 for its fourth straight-victory Saturday afternoon in Chambers Hall.
Pitt-Greensburg improves to 14-8 overall and 11-5 in the AMCC, while Medaille drops to 2-20 on the season and 2-14 in conference.
Nadege Durand led the Bobcats with 19 points on 9-of-13 shooting. LeeAnn Harris dropped in a career high 14 points, and Colleen Murphy added 10.
After the Mavericks scored the first basket of the game, the Bobcats scored the next 12 points to break out to an early lead. Durand scored 9 points in the first quarter and UPG led 18-9 after ten minutes of play.
The second quarter was dominated by Pitt-Greensburg, as they held Medaille to 1-of-10 shooting and just three points in the quarter. UPG scored 20 points in the frame to extend their lead to 38-12 at halftime.
Each team connected on a basket to start the second half. The Bobcats followed that with a 19-2 run to stretch their lead to above 40 points (59-17) at the 3:44 mark of the third quarter. Ashley Barker closed out the third quarter with a three pointer to make it 66-21 as they headed into the fourth quarter.
It was a great all-around effort for the Bobcats, as all nine players that saw the floor scored points in the win. Pitt-Greensburg held Medaille to single digits in each of the opening three stanzas.
Pitt-Greensburg will make its final road trip of the regular season on Wednesday (Feb. 12), when they head to Mount Aloysius for an 8 pm tip off against the Mounties. The Bobcats had a 45-point dismantle of the Mounties back on January 15.
